An online single point of contact for Greater Western Sydney's start-up and small businesses looking for networking opportunities, community events and workshops is now "live".
The Small Business & Start-up Events Calendar is an initiative of Local Area Marketing in response to a survey it undertook.
The survey asked Start-up and SME business owners to identify the most important resources that could benefit their business objectives.
Local Area Marketing's Chief Marketing Officer, Joe Kowalewski, said that more than 87 per cent of respondents identified networking opportunities as their top priority.
"This also confirmed anecdotal feedback from business owners who valued networking but either didn't have the time to find groups themselves or knew very little about the different networking groups options that exist," he said.
"We decided to address this issue by doing the work for them and consolidating the information into a central contact point.
"We have added local workshops where they can expand or refresh their business knowledge on marketing, small business compliance, employment and taxation issues.
"Local events that may create additional business opportunities for owners are there too."
Mr Kowalewski said the calendar was still a work in progress with listings added daily.
"There are free groups, attendance fee or annual subscription groups, women's business groups, casual and professionally facilitated groups - a very extensive list of options.
"Our research area for these groups and activities stretches from the Parramatta/Hills districts through to the Blue Mountains and south-west into the Wollondilly region," he said.
